Set Sail 2009

Sunday, September 13, 2009 was the annual Set Sail fundraiser for Spaulding Rehab’s Adaptive Sports Program. As a way of giving back to Spaulding for allowing us to use their dock space, many Rooters gave their time to help kids, parents, and even some tipsy architects experience the joy of dragon boating.

Thank you to 3 of the 4 Daves (L, MC and P), Tran, Margo, Teresa, Caroline, Ariana, Ashley, Bobby, Al, Lily, Sofia, Mandy, Chris, Clark, Scott, Rich, Whitney, Cindy, Nila, Vanita, Phoebe and Roxane.

Every single time people approached our table and were faced with the choice of canoeing or dragon boating, there was no competition. Not only does dragon boating sound more awesome, it is (though we still have love for our OC-4 friends…we’ll see you at the finish line).

We managed 8 full boats-worth of eager future paddlers and sometimes their moms and dads, and got Vanita some practice steering away from walls. An exhausting, but successful day all around.
